Evaluating historical context

Students read two short accounts of the same historical decision written in different decades, identify what circumstances of the writer's own time may have shaped each account, and discuss how context changes interpretation.

Students will be able to

  • Identify circumstances of time and place that shaped a historical account.
  • Explain how those circumstances may have influenced the account's interpretation.

  • Aligned to D2.His.1.9-12 — Evaluate how historical events and developments were shaped by the unique circumstances of their time and place.
