Comparing two-digit numbers

Students build two-digit numbers with base-ten blocks, compare pairs of numbers by their tens and ones, and record the comparison with greater-than, less-than, or equal signs.

Students will be able to

  • Compare two two-digit numbers based on the value of the tens and ones digits.
  • Record a comparison correctly using the >, <, and = symbols.

Standards

  • Aligned to CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.NBT.B.3 — Compare two two-digit numbers based on the meanings of the tens and ones digits, recording the result with the symbols >, =, and <.
